PINthisimageCan there really be a better way to celebrate the start of a new year than with this precious face? Miss Evelyn is such a sweet “New Years Day” baby and was a pure joy to photograph. This adorable little girl clearly knows how to wear a headband perfectly and she was a rockstar during her blanket and headband changes! Being a newborn photographer in the Canton area allows me to photograph some truly amazing local babies.
Winter babies are such snuggly bundles of joy. I’ve really loved being snowed in the house with nothing to do but snuggle my winter babies, but the biggest fear I always had is that it can also mean these tiny ones are subjected to a bit more germs early on than other newborns. One helpful bit of advice that has helped at our house full of winter and fall babies is to make sure everyone washes their hands to keep baby safe! It is always OK to make sure doting visitors are germ free and wash their hands before getting in on the sweet baby snuggles. Small babies’ immune systems just aren’t ready to tackle typical cold and flu viruses the way the rest of us are. Simple hand washing can lead to a much healthier and safer winter months for a newborn winter baby which means more fun and amazing snuggles with squishy little loves like Evelyn! It can be so tough for parents to put their foot down and force people to keep their distance or mandate hand washing, but the reward of having a healthy winter baby makes it all worth it! Some of my favorite ways to help encourage easy hand washing is scattering instant hand sanitizer bottles throughout the house (not my favorite option, but it is convenient and effective), have some simple hand soaps readily available at every sink (I just started getting into Myers hand soap-it smells really good!), and have some hand creams sprinkled throughout the house to help with the inevitable dry hands from all of the washing. It might be a tedious task to keep the germs away, but is SO worth keeping babies like Evelyn strong and healthy. Now hurry up and get here spring time, we want all of these viruses to start going away!
