Not going to lie, I was pretty nervous for Kennedy’s newborn session. She was born a little before Christmas, and the holidays kind of swallowed up everyone’s time, so her newborn session wasn’t scheduled until she was 4 weeks old! We made sure to schedule her around her “big nap” time in the morning, and it worked out great! We did have to skip the “roll your baby up into a tiny ball like she’s in the womb” poses, but loved my main basic poses.
Mom shared Kennedy’s birth story:
Kennedy Mae was born on Sunday, December 13th at 16:40 via emergency c-section. I started with contractions late Thursday night/early Friday morning and went in to be checked. At 2cm dilated I was told I would be monitored 1 hours and rechecked. No progress had been made, so we were sent home… only to return three more times because of increase in frequency and strength of contractions and lack of sleep. Finally on Sunday morning we were dilated to 4cm! After receiving an epidural (FINALLY! THANK GOD!), it was a waiting game. After minimal progress and contractions weakening, it was time for a c-section. (Dad turned white as a ghost, but he kept his composure.)
Of course I shouldn’t have expected anything less… after all, she is her mother’s child and had to make a grand entrance. She was 7lbs 13oz and 19 3/4 inches long. We were instantly smitten with her! Kennedy is definitely my mini me with the exception of her daddy’s eyelashes, legs, and toes! “Miss Mae” is full of sass with multiple facial expressions, both good and bad, but deep down she is a snuggle bug.
